BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) - Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown is hoping for a city investment of more than $9 million in capital projects as part of his recommended capital budget.
$8 million alone would go to major infrastructure projects including repaving of Delaware Avenue, Michigan Avenue, Walden Avenue, Fillmore Avenue, and improvements to Court Street. Another $1 million is planned to go to Buffalo's entertainment district.
"We'll be spending almost $1 million more than we spent last year on infrastructure," Brown said. "This will be among our highest spending in over 14 years in the City of Buffalo on infrastructure. We all know we get harsh winters and very extreme freeze-thaw cycles. People have been concerned about roads throughout the northeast and we are making a substantial investment in infrastructure in this capital budget."
Sidewalk improvements will also be part of the recommended capital budget. Funding will also include Phase 4B of the Niagara Street improvement project, upgrades to Broadway Market, and facade stabilization of Buffalo City Hall.
