A Coppell, Texas man is going to prison for a long time after pleading guilty in a scam to cheat the government out $17 million from the Payroll Protection Program last year.
Dinesh Kumar Sah could get up to 30 years in prison. Court documents show Sah submitted 15 bogus applications for funds from the PPP which was intended to keep small businesses afloat after their revenues dropped during the Coronavirus outbreak.
Sah claimed his businesses had hundreds of employees and he faked bank statements and tax records to back up his lies.
In truth, he had no employees at all.
Prosecutors said Sah used the $17-million he received on a lavish life-style, using it to buy more than a half a dozen houses and a number of luxury cars, including a Bentley.
Under the terms of his plea deal, he has surrended the homes and cars.
No word yet on when he'll be sentenced.
