Could Marlins' outbreak affect games at Sahlen Field?

Miami Marlins COVID19

Buffalo, NY (WBEN) There's trouble for major league baseball and potentially for scheduled play in Buffalo as the Toronto Blue Jays first opponent at Sahlen Field is experiencing a coronavirus outbreak.

Up to 40 percent of the Miami Marlins' lineup has tested positive for coronavirus, prompting postponement of Monday night's home opener. Now, there is a concern about whether an upcoming set of games can be played in Buffalo.

ESPN MLB insider Jeff Passan tells "First Take" this was the last thing MLB needed.

"We wanted the Toronto Blue Jays to play their home games in Buffalo, but health and safety are the number one priorities," says Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown. "The state health department take a look at these issues. They've done a great job of flattening the curve here in New York State. We will be looking to them for the science of what needs to happen to keep people in our communtiy safe."
