NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A mother duck and her brave brood of ducklings crossed a busy Brooklyn avenue and made a pit stop at a bagel shop before waddling safely into Prospect Park, a series of videos posted to Twitter on Monday show.

The feathered family of nine made the dangerous decision to traverse 5th Avenue in Park Slope on Monday afternoon, Doug Gordon said on Twitter. Quick-thinking passersby, however, managed to stop traffic and clear a safe path for the birds.

“A real-life ‘Make Way for Ducklings’ scene just unfolded in Brooklyn with this mama duck and her babies trying to cross 5th Ave.,” Gordon wrote. “Multiple people helped stop traffic to get them safely across the street. But it gets better….”

After the ducks crossed the avenue, they made a beeline for Bagel World at 5th Avenue and 4th Street. A video Gordon posted shows the ducks boldly bypassing a rack of chips inside the shop before heading toward the refrigerated display cases.

“The mama duck and her ducklings then went into Bagel World,” Gordon wrote. “No word on what they ordered.”

“After a few minutes, the ducks came out and one of the Bagel World employees helped lure them to the opposite curb with some bread crumbs,” he added. “They are on their way up 4th Street, hopefully to Prospect Park.”

As of around 3 p.m., the mother duck and her eight ducklings had arrived in the park, Gordon said.

“Out for a walk and I overheard someone talking about the ducks. I stopped to ask about them,” he wrote. “He accompanied them all the way up to the park and they went into the woods. Happy ending!”
