Discount retailer Dollar Tree and Family Dollar announce they will not require customers to wear a mask.

On Monday, the stores announce they will not require customers to wear a mask. Instead of requiring masks, they will "request" it.

The decision comes down just eight days after Dollar Tree Incorporated laid out its policies that required employees and customers to wear masks at all times, Forbes notes. Health experts and the CDC continue to stress the importance of wearing proper facial coverings as COVID-19 cases continue to surge in the U.S.

Dollar Tree’s policy reversal comes as Walmart, Target, and other major retailers are requiring customers to wear face masks for the foreseeable future.
