Calling the act of receiving a COVID vaccination “an act of love,” Pope Francis implored his worldwide congregation to get the shot Wednesday.
The call-to-action was part of a public service announcement released by the Catholic Church that included not just the pope but six other cardinals and archbishops as well.

"Thanks to God's grace and the work of many, we now have vaccines to protect us from COVID-19," the pope said. "Getting vaccinated is a simple yet profound way to care for one another, especially the most vulnerable. I pray to God that each of us can make his or her own small gesture of love."

Both living popes, Pope Francis and Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, received their first shot back on January 14.
The new video is the latest outreach from the Vatican endeavoring to urge vaccinations among both Catholics and the population at-large. In December, the Vatican’s Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith said it was everyone’s duty to do their utmost to avoid transmitting COVID-19.
