DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Per a report from NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, the Oakland Raiders have released outspoken wide receiver Antonio Brown just one day before the start of the regular season.

The release comes just hours after his latest exchange with the Raiders front office, and his release request through social media.

Brown, who has had one of the more controversial offseason's for a player in recent memory, has been at odds with the Raiders front office, and most notably team General Manager Mike Mayock since before training camp even began this summer.

What started as a bizarre foot issue, quickly morphed into a helmet controversy, and then to a standoff with Mayock over fines incurred during his absence from camp.

Brown then took to social media on Saturday morning to demand a release from the Raiders organization via Instagram, citing his displeasure with the team.

Brown was a major acquisition for the Raiders this past offseason, with the team trading a third and a fifth round pick for him in back in March.

Until they can figure out another solution, the Raiders will now turn to former Chargers wide receiver Tyrell Williams to be their number one option at the position in the wake Brown's exit from the franchise.
