ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WBEN) - A second coronavirus case has been confirmed in Western New York.
Monroe County Health Commissioner Dr. Michael Mendoza said the patient became symptomatic on March 4. In addition to working at school, she also attended St. Joseph Ukrainian Church in Irondequoit on March 1st.
Greece Central School district will be closed until further notice.
Officials do not believe the case is related to the positive test confirmed earlier this week or to those quarantined at SUNY Brockport. This may be a case of community spread.
Mendoza said officials learned of the second case around 7pm Friday night. He was asked why the county waited until 10am the next day to make it public.
There are no confirmed cases of coronavirus in any other counties in Western New York, including Erie County.
