NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A pod of dolphins took a swim in the East River on Tuesday, videos taken by a passerby show.
Cailin Doran was sitting on a bench in WNYC Transmitter Park in Greenpoint around 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday when she spotted the creatures, she told the Brooklyn Paper.
“I couldn’t believe it was real. I couldn’t believe that was actually happening,” Doran said in an interview with the outlet.
“They hung around for 20 minutes — they were just kind of playing. They didn’t seem bothered by anything,” she added. “Everyone was very mesmerized by the whole spectacle happening.”
New York City’s Department of Environmental Protection remarked on the dolphin sighting via its Twitter account.
“So glad to see these guys enjoying a Harbor that is cleaner today than it has been since the Civil War,” the department said.
