New Haven Police Officer Diane Gonzalez died on Monday, according to multiple reports.
The then-13-year veteran of the department was left with a traumatic brain injury after she and Sgt. Dario "Scott" Aponte responded separately to a domestic dispute call in September 2008, when their police cruisers collided.
Aponte died as a result of the crash.
Gonzalez eventually slipped into a coma due to her injuries. She is survived by her son, two daughters and grandchildren.
WCBS 880 reached out to the department for comment.
