BT put the Knicks’ crushing game five loss on Tom Thibodeau, but Sal says he is putting the blame on the players, who missed foul shots, turned the ball over, and ultimately let the game slip away down the stretch when a win was there for the taking.
“How about Josh Hart hitting a free throw? How about Jalen Brunson not playing sloppy?” Sal said. “The Knicks choked that game away last night. They had their foot on the throat of the Sixers, and they let them up for air. Now they’re in a fight for the series. The Knicks are in real trouble here.
“The Knicks choked it away with the pressure at home.”
Sal has been concerned about the Knicks’ chances even after going up 2-0 in the series, and now, he is even more concerned about blowing the series when a clinching win was right there for the taking.
“When you come back from the dead like that, and going back home with two stars,” Sal said. “The Knicks are in big trouble.”
