Pete Alonso went deep again on Tuesday night, and is on pace for 60 home runs in 2023.

Sal loves watching the Mets slugger, but he is not a fan of his “air humping” celebrations that have become a topic of conversation on social media over the last week.

“I love Pete Alonso. I think, when it’s all said and done, he’s gonna be the greatest Met of all time,” Sa; said. “And I’m all for good celebrations, but can you keep it clean, please?

“I don’t care as a 43-year-old, but as somebody who now has a young daughter, or has taken my young niece and nephew to games, how do I explain to them what Pete Alonso is doing when he hits a grand slam, or what he’s doing against the guardrail in the dugout? It’s just stupid. It’s sophomoric. You’re not in college anymore, dude. You’re a New York Met. Act like a freaking professional, will you?”

With young fans in mind, Sal doesn’t care for the Mets’ “group hump” celebration at the end of wins, or Alonso doing the same gesture to the railing in front of the dugout when a teammate does something that warrants celebration. Simply put, he wants Alonso to find another method of celebrating.

“I’m sure it’s funny to them, and I’m sure there are parts of it that I would find funny,” Sal said. “But act like a professional. You’ve got kids watching you. I’m not trying to be all high and mighty. I understand people do things and you can’t protect all kids from seeing bad things, but come on.

“I would just hope that he can be smarter about his celebrations.”
