Aaron Boone is once again trying to navigate an injury-riddled Yankees roster, but even when healthy, Keith’s hopes aren’t high that the skipper will be the one to end the franchise’s title drought.
Boone, in his sixth year as manager, has the vote of confidence from the front office, and Keith sees him at least getting the amount of time Joe Torre had as manager, and he doesn’t see Boone winning a World Series in that time.
“I think Boone is gonna get his eight years,” Keith said. “Is he gonna get to a World Series? I don’t know. Is he gonna win a World Series? I wouldn’t put a FanDuel free five dollar bet on it.
“I just think it’s gonna be more of the same. What leads me to believe that? My eyes, what I watch.”
It’s been a long 14 years since the Yanks were on top of the baseball world, and younger generations of fans that have grown up knowing Boone as manager don’t know the franchise as consistent winners, and it doesn’t feel like the Bombers are close to changing that.
“We’re far from that. I don’t know what guys are living off now,” Keith said. “Yankeeography? YouTube highlights?”
