It's another iconic induction class for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, which has revealed the next batch of music royalty set to join the institution in 2025.

During Sunday night's episode of American Idol, the Rock Hall shared this year's inductees, led by 7 in the performer category in 2025. Those artists are Cyndi Lauper, Outkast, Soundgarden, The White Stripes, Joe Cocker, Bad Company, and Chubby Checker. For Checker, it's been 65 years since he first released his chart-topping version of "The Twist," and 39 years since he was first eligible to join the Hall for its first class, yet somehow this was the first year Checker was even nominated. He is joined by Bad Company, Joe Cocker, and Outkast who also were on the ballot for the first time this year. Lauper, Soundgarden, and The White Stripes have all been up for consideration previously.
Also included in this year's class are Salt-N-Pepa and Warren Zevon in the Musical Influence category, Thom Bell, Nicky Hopkins, Carol Kaye in the Musical Excellence category, and Lenny Waronker who will receive the Ahmet Ertegun Award.
“Each of these inductees created their own sound and attitude that had a profound impact on culture and helped to change the course of Rock & Roll forever,” said John Sykes, Chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in an official release. “Their music gave a voice to generations and influenced countless artists that followed in their footsteps.”
Also notable for 2025, are the artists that were nominated this year but did not make the cut. Oasis, Mariah Carey, and Joy Division/New Order were once again on the ballot, and once again did not make the class. The Black Crowes, Billy Idol, Maná, and Phish were all on the ballot for the first time this year, and also denied admission. Phish managed to win the fan vote convincingly for 2025, year came up short on the official vote.
The 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction will be live on November 8 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, California. The 2025 ceremony will once again stream live on Disney+, with a special airing on ABC at a later date.
