I am a Middle School Social Worker. My primary role is to support students' emotional, social, and academic well-being, often in an environment where resources are limited. In my office students are able to problem solve, and communicate whether it be verbally, non-verbally, or through my favorite arts and crafts. My office is very inviting as there is something for everyone. From mental health resources to social-emotional tools it is where if students, families, and colleagues can come into my office confidently and receive any services they may need.
Robin Brazelton, Brooklyn
P.S. 185- The Walter a Kassenbrock School
My wishlist items aim to enrich the environment for my kindergarten students where students feel invited to learn in a safe & functional space that keeps the child as the central focus. When the environment is well organized, children can be set up to be more autonomous thereby contributing to their overall sense of confidence. They become active learners in recognizing their value and contributions to our classroom & their thoughts and ideas are important. Creating a sense of safety in the environment affords young children these benefits that help build a foundational base for a lifelong love of learning. I have specialized in early childhood education for the past 8 years and I love supporting my littles!! 💖

Thank you so much for visiting my wishlist. I am a third-year teacher at a Title 1 High School in East New York, Brooklyn. These wishlists are incredibly important to me and my students, as they help ensure that I rarely need to buy supplies throughout the year. My students are always so appreciative of everything we receive. When English Language Learner (ELL) students arrive in a new country, they face the daunting task of learning a new language and navigating an unfamiliar environment. Having a community room where they can feel safe and supported is crucial. In addition to academic support, I also provide emotional support for my students. Sometimes they come to school hungry or feeling overwhelmed, they need a break and they may not have enough money to buy breakfast. I do my best to help them through these challenges. Every item you donate makes a significant difference in their day-to-day lives. Thank you for your generosity and support in clearing my list!!

I teach 4th grade in an ICT classroom. Our curriculum includes an online component that is essential in supporting student success yet we are not provided headphones. I have purchased them for my students in the past, but they break because I have had to buy cheap ones to afford a class set. Unfortunately, my family doesn't necessarily have the funds to provide school supplies. I provide the basics myself, but I would love to have quality headphones for my students so that they last.

I teach 8th grade math in a very diverse district (Fords, NJ) and more than half of our student population is on our free/reduced breakfast and lunch program. I have many students that come into my classroom on the first day of school with nothing...no notebook, no pencil, nothing. I spend a lot of my own money each year to make sure my students have the basic necessities to be successful in my class. It is very difficult, but I do it because I want them to be successful and I do not want them to feel shame being the only ones without the basic necessities. I also purchase a lot of supplies for them to share in my classroom that I need to replenish often like markers, erasers, folders, highlighters, glue sticks, and snacks! Items on my wish list are items that are needed and often replenished by me.

We are a brand new District 75 (self-contained special education) school located in the South Bronx. We are just opening this year with all incoming Kindergarten classes which will serve students with Autism, Emotional Behavioral Disorder and other health impairments. As a new school, we have very limited resources and the items on this Wishlist would be very helpful in meeting the instructional and sensory needs of our school community.

This is my 21st year teaching at PS 108Q. I teach the gifted and talented fourth grade class and will be departmental for math. I will have 64 students in total who I want to enhance their math mindset! We are a NYCPS that is title 1 and a very diverse group of students. Many students have a fear of math but I love to get them engaged with hands-on real world activities. My goal is to make their math mindset change into loving math as a part of their everyday world around them! I look forward to any assistance in helping me achieve the tools I need to make a student centered math environment!

Hi everyone! My name is Torrie Habermann! I am an elementary self-contained special education teacher in Far Rockaway NY. We are a district 75 school which services students with a wide range of disabilities. Every year I try to get my students all the necessary supplies for the start to the year. A lot of their families have a hard time gathering supplies so each year the teachers and school personnel think of new and creative ways to get these amazing kids the supplies they need. My students are wonderful kids, who want to show the difference they can make in the world. They want to show that if you put your mind to something you can accomplish anything. I would love the opportunity to give them a great start to the year!

I am starting my 18th year of teaching. This year will be my 8th year as a fourth grade teacher in a NYCPS Title 1 School. For 6 years, I was in an ICT classroom but this year I am going to be teaching in a general education/ENL room without a co-teacher. I will be teaching Math and Writing. I am looking to restock my room with the basic supplies needed throughout the year to help my room run smoothly. In addition, resources that I know will help my students become strong mathematicians and writers.

I teach pre-k 4 and I enjoy teaching!❤ I teach all the subjects in Pre-K, socialization, math, letters/sounds, reading, science, cooking and much more. We as pre-k teachers have to utilize all that we know to create an atmosphere for these children to feel comfortable and learn through play. Not only are we their teachers, but we as teachers are more than that in the classroom. We are there for each child and their needs. Pre-k has to change the classroom for each unit to reflect what we are teaching.(4-5 weeks intervals) It is important to create/introduce new things for the children. I love what I do and I try to make it the best experience for each child.

I try to help them the best I can and provide supplies that they need since they rarely come to school with supplies. Any donations would be greatly appreciated.

I am a Special Education teacher. I believe that every child has the capability to succeed in school but it is my job to help them figure out the strategies and create a safe space that will place them on the road to success. Being in a Title 1 school in NYC, it's difficult to get the funds to purchase items to help my students succeed in their learning. This year I will be teaching 2nd grade in an ICT classroom. For those of you unfamiliar with ICT or Integrated Co-teaching, it means that I and my co-teacher will have a class of 29 students, 60% are considered General Education students and 40% are students with Individual Education Plans, a.k.a Special Education. Though I have extra responsibilities towards my students with identified learning challenges, ALL students in my class are MY students and I'm committed to making sure that all 29 students have a successful year. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I am currently a fifth grade ENL model/lead teacher. Our classroom, a vibrant and inclusive space where diversity is celebrated, and every student is valued. In our room, you'll find a positive, firm, and loving atmosphere where students are encouraged to be their authentic selves. We believe in the power of choice, offering students a variety of ways to engage with learning, ensuring that each one finds their path to success. Our classroom is a place where advocacy is not just encouraged but is a part of our daily practice. Here, students learn to voice their needs and support one another, fostering a community where everyone feels empowered. In class 5-518, we value culture and language as the essence for learning.

Presently I teach an 8:1:3 ABA classroom for preschoolers with a disability and/or have an autism spectrum diagnosis. In my classroom I believe that all children can learn. I will be teaching 5th and 6th grade social studies. My classroom is a warm and welcoming environment. I have a cozy corner with bookshelves with a rug and bean bag that they love. I have alternative seating options for them at their desks but could use some more. Last year I taught math and social studies to only fifth grade. This year will be fifth and sixth grade social studies only. I know my students will be excited to return to me. They don't know about it yet! And the fourth graders are excited for fifth grade as well. However, my room has a lot of math decorations on the wall and I can use more social studies decorations, as well as some social studies manipulatives and games as my room is mostly math heavy at the moment. Thanks so much!

I teach life skills math and social-emotional learning in a special education school. My students are in 5th-8th grade. They have a variety of challenges from learning disabilities to developmental delays. We are a small school that exists within a larger school where our students learn and socialize together and we often participate in shared programs. My school customizes each student's schedule and curriculum to meet their needs based on where they are at and what they need to know next to be successful in life. My wish list includes math manipulatives, basic classroom supplies, and items to create my own visuals and manipulatives for my students.
