From May 28 to June 5, Minneapolis police responded to a staggering 65 drug overdoses, at least one of them resulting in a fatality.
Fifteen of those overdoses happened June 2, according to MPD officials.
Minneapolis Police spokesman John Elder said the drugs involved vary, including counterfeit Oxycontin, heroin, meth, carfentanyl and fentanyl.
The MPD has dedicated overdose coordinator looking to find patterns.
"We also are taking a data-driving approach," Elder said. "We're looking to see where they're happening, what time they're happening, what patterns there are. And we're allocating resources to address what we're seeing."
On Sunday, June 2nd alone, the MPS responded to 15 overdoses.
In St. Paul, police responded to five overdoses in a 24-hour period.
This comes amid last weekend's incident in which six young adults were treated for apparent drug overdoses in the front lawn of a house in South St. Paul.
