The Minnesota State Fair is prime territory for politicians and among them this year is Minnesota Senator and presidential candidate Amy Klobuchar.

She joined WCCO's Dave Lee at the fair to talk about why she would be the best candidate against Trump, and issues like gun control and the long lines at Minneapolis St Paul International airport.

"This is money from Washington. Our airport has been growing, we have more travelers than ever, so they should match that with the number of screeners," she said, while sitting on the porch at the WCCO Radio booth.

On the topic of the trade war with China, Klobuchar said the president should do more.

"I really think that the President has to go back to the negotiating table. We know that China has not been a good player here when it comes to currency manipulation, and what they've done with subsidies."

Klobuchar will take part in the upcoming September debates in Houston, likening the inclusion to making the playoffs in football as a wild card. "I know I'm not in the lead right now, " she said. "I know I'm doing pretty good. I'm ahead of 18 people... I made the playoffs, right? And guess what — six times the wild card team has won the Super Bowl," she said.

She says she thinks it's a good omen that this year, Princess Kay of the Milky Way is named Amy.
