Not many athletes get their number retired.

For Lindsay Whalen, Minnesota's most famous women's basketball player, this year marks the third time a team has hung her number from the rafters.

The Lynx will have a jersey retirement ceremony before their game on June 8 against the Los Angeles Sparks at Target Center.

"It's good," said Whalen, when informed that the ceremony is coming prior to tip-off. "I want to mess with LA one more time."

Whalen's number 13 is also on display at Hutchinson High School's gymnasium, and hanging from the rafters of Williams Arena at the University of Minnesota.

She is the first member of the Lynx to have her jersey number retired.

WCCO's Sloane Martin, who's covered Whalen both as a player and coach, talked about Whalen with Cory Hepola.
