A Brooklyn Park man is officially charged Friday in a crash that killed an innocent driver.
Trevon McMorris, 27, is charged with fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle resulting in death. Less than a month before the crash Wednesday evening in North Minneapolis that killed 50-year-old Jose Madrid Salcido, McMorris was convicted of fleeing police.
Prosecutors say McMorris sped off and almost hit an officer investigating drug dealing in the 300 block of Aldrich Avenue North.

A couple blocks north, McMorris crashed into Madrid Salcido's sedan, pinning him inside. He died about an hour later at North Memorial Hospital.
According to court documents, police found cocaine and a load .22 caliber semi-automatic pistol in McMorris's car.
