Jennifer Carnihan earned another term as chair of the Minnesota Republican party.

She came out the winner in first ballot of more than 346 delegates gathered in Hutchinson for the Republicans' spring central committee meeting.

Carnihan first won the chair two years ago, becoming the first Asian-American woman to lead the state GOP.

There were two contenders for the post in Saturday's balloting: former US Senate candidate Monti Moreno and Duluth activist Becky Hall.

Here are the results:

  1. Jennifer Carnahan, 238 votes
  2. Becky Hall, 79
  3. Monti Moreno, 23
  4. No preference, 3

Under Carnahan's leadership, the GOP lost every statewide election in 2018.

Also last fall, Republicans lost control of the Minnesota House.

Carnahan is married to 1st District Congressman Jim Hagedorn.
