Republican Congressman-elect Jim Hagedorn puts plenty of blame on Democrats in Washington DC for the ongoing partial government shutdown. Hagedorn joined Roshini Rajkumar Wednesday on WCCO and spoke about the shutdown, border security and the stalemate between President Trump and Democratic leaders over a border wall.

Referring to congressional Democrats, Hagedorn said, "They’re all opposed to anything President Trump is trying to do."

Hagedorn also spoke about the need for a wall at the border. "We are the most generous country in all the world. But we should not want people coming here illegally, and our government needs to do everything it possibly can to send that message that if you show up at the border you’re not getting in."

However, on the question of the wall, Trump's out-going chief of staff, John Kelly, recently told the LA Times that the adminstration had given up on the wall in practice, and is currently favoring using metal slats.
