The latest COVID-19 numbers seem to be moving in the right direction with a slower rate of death, more testing, and fewer hospitalizations according to state health department officials. Commissioner Jan Malcolm announced the specific numbers during her daily media briefing on Friday.
"The total number of people hospitalized each day currently is almost 200 people less than the high point of hospitalizations which we saw a couple of weeks ago."
Department officials also say there have been sharp declines in the number of cases and deaths in long term care facilities over the past few weeks. For example, officials say there were 143 deaths reported the week of May 17th compared to 41 deaths this week. The total COVID-19 death toll in Minnesota has now surpassed the 1,000 to 1012.
