Al Franken says he regrets resigning from the US Senate after allegations surfaced of improper behavior with several women.
In a piece for the New Yorker magazine, Franken was asked if he regrets stepping down. He replied, "Oh yeah. Absolutely."
In addition, the New Yorker spoke with seven current and former US Senators who openly called for Franken's resignation. All said they regret doing so.
After several women went public with stories about improper interactions with Franken, he resigned his Senate seat in late 2017. Then-Governor Mark Dayton appointed his Lieutenant Governor Tina Smith to the seat, and she won a special election in November of last year fill the remainder of the term.
