A St. Paul man is dead after a high speed chase Tuesday afternoon in Carver County.
Carver County sheriff's deputies responded to the report of a BMW being driven erratically on Highway 212 at 5:30 p.m. in Cologne. Police located the vehicle, which was being driven by James Charles Erickson, 40, of St. Paul.
Erickson fled from police and headed east on Highway 212. The crash ended when Erickson exited to Highway 41 and crashed into multiple vehicles. Erickson died at the scene and passengers from the other vehicles were taken to the hospital with uknown injuries.
The Minnesota State Patrol assisted at the crash scene. The incident remains under investigation.
