COVID-19 has hit Minnesota's long-term care facilities hard, with one, in particular, seeing more 50 fatalities. WCCO's Susie Jones talked to the family of a resident there, who has now tested positive for the deadly virus.
Saint Therese of New Hope has so far, been the most affected long-term care facility in Minnesota with more than 50 fatalities.
Saint Therese said last week that 130 residents at the 258-bed facility have also been infected.
One of them is Matt Ruff, who just recently found out he has the virus, but has no symptoms, “The thing I am upset about is that we didn’t find out about the deaths until we saw it on the news,” said Karen Ruff Johnson, Matt Ruff’s daughter.
“They have told me that 40 percent of the staff is out. They did not say why. They just said out,” she said.
Matt is now isolated and living in the facility with other residents who have tested positive for the virus.
