
It was 32 years ago today, October 25th, 1987, that Jeff Reardon delivered a pitch to Willie McGee of the St. Louis Cardinals. He hit it sharply to 3rd baseman Gary Gaetti, who picked it clean and rifled a throw to Kent Hrbek at 1st base.
The Twins Cities then erupted, as the Minnesota Twins became "baseball's World Champions" according to Hall of Fame broadcaster Herb Carneal. Herb also made sure to give a pat on the back to that amazing crowd, swinging their Homer Hankies and making life miserable for the visiting Cardinals.
WCCO Radio was there, and in the postgame, John Gordon and Dan Hertsgaard talked to fans and players all through the night as Minnesota celebrated a World Series victory.
