Break out the ripped denim and Aquanet. The biggest rock tour of the summer is making a stop in Minneapolis at U.S. Bank Stadium.
Longtime hard rocking veterans Motley Crue and British hair metal stalwarts Def Leppard will be headlining a show that also includes Poison and Joan Jett & The Blackhearts. Tickets go on sale January 10th with pre-sales kicking off January 6th. There haven't been prices posted yet for tickets which you'll be able to get through Ticketmaster.
The tour had already sold out Miller Park in Milwaukee, plus shows in Atlanta, Seattle, Dalls, Detroit, Chicago an Denver, along with others. The tour runs June 21st-September 5th, all at major stadiums.
A press release from promotor Live Nation says the tour already has over 700,000 tickets sold with receipts over $90 million.
“The word on the street was that fans were overly excited about this stadium tour even before it was announced ... well it’s out there now & it keeps getting bigger & bigger ... this is going to be a MONSTER of a tour!” says Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott.
Motley Crue is fresh off a farewell tour that actually played three times in the Twin Cities, the last one in 2015. But, with their autobiographical movie on Netflix, "The Dirt", creating new interest in the band, it looks like the Crue isn't ready to give up the road.
Def Leppard most recently appeared at Target Field with Journey in 2018. Poison played the Xcel Center in 2017. Joan Jett was added as an opener just as the Minneapolis show was announced.
It'll certainly be a throwback to the 80's with these groups, all of which saw their heydays in that hair-raising decade. Somehow, Def Leppard has stuck it out since 1977 and Motley Crue since 1981. All through the deaths of bandmembers, significant substance abuse, and a ton of in-fighting.
