The Minnesota Lynx have an all-female coaching staff for the first time since 2005 after the team’s last male assistants earned head coaching opportunities in the WNBA.
Former Lynx player and Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer Katie Smith visited Cory Hepola at News Talk 830 WCCO to talk about her new role as a Lynx assistant coach, including reuniting with Cheryl Reeve and her first memories in Minnesota.
I am very excited to return back to the city, team, and fans where my WNBA career began. I can’t wait to get to work with the staff and team! Thank you Minnesota Lynx and Cheryl Reeve! ---- https://t.co/Aelqb0PGy2

“There's a connection with the players, with Cheryl, with everything. It's like there's a more of that personal connection, so I just feel like that makes it special and that makes people want to come — win, lose or whatever. They want to be a part of it and get to know these players and to be a part of something special.”
The Lynx open the season May 15. The first home game is May 17.
