With both Major League Baseball, and the NBA/WNBA seasons shuttered, many workers that depend on games in Target Field and Target Center are losing paychecks.

Both the Twins, and the Timberwolves and Lynx organizations are stepping up to help those staffs that work gamedays in each venue. Tuesday afternoon each organization pledged up to $1 million to the gameday staff.

The team owners, the Pohlad family for the Twins and Glen Taylor for the Wolves/Lynx, each pointed out that those workers are part of the family for the franchise, and through this stoppage in play they want to make sure families are supported.

Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns is donating $100,000 to Mayo Clinic to aid their efforts of finding a quicker way to detect COVID-19.

All of this is happening while more NBA players have come out as testing positive for the virus, including Brooklyn Nets All Star Kevin Durant.

Currently, both leagues are in a 30-day waiting period, but most experts think the leagues will be shut down even longer.

On Monday, Governor Walz and state health officials shut down all bars, restaurants, movie theaters, bowling alleys and other gathering spots that draw crowds of over 10 people in an effort to contain the spread of the virus.

There are currently over 60 cases in Minnesota, while tests continue to be in short supply
