We've been through this drill before, but stating the obvious: leave double or even triple the usual drive times to get around today. Don't forget to turn on your headlights (and clear the snow from all windows so you can see!)
And to think, just a few weeks ago snowfall for the winter was half of normal. After the Polar Vortex departed the pattern has been just right for heavy snow, with a perfect mixture of northern cold and southern moisture; a pattern which shows no signs of letting go. Another snow event is possible over the weekend, but the brunt of this next snowy swipe may pass south and east of Minnesota...it's too early to say.
By the end of March we'll probably see 40s, maybe a few 50s with rain and even the first thunderstorms of spring. That said, spring is NOT right around the corner. Sorry Punxatawney Phil. That was a fake weather prediction.
I'm happy for Minnesota snow lovers who are disappointed (most) winters. And if you don't like all this frozen water, cheer up - this too shall pass. Hang in there, stay safe and think warm thoughts.
