Funeral services were Friday morning in Pine City for a long-time Minnesota DNR conservation officer, who died in the line of duty last weekend.
Officer Eugene Wynn was responding to a call on Cross Lake near Pine City on April 19, and was thrown from the boat along with a Pine County sheriff's deputy
The deputy managed to swim to shore, while Wynn's body was recovered after a five-hour search.
He leaves behind a wife, who's a Pine County district court judge, and two children.
Flags across the state fly at half staff on Friday to honor Wynn, 43.
In a proclimation, Gov. Walz called Wynn an "outstanding conservation officer, who was admired and respected by his colleagues, and served with dignity and pride.”
The funeral begins at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Pine City Civic Center.
Wynn worked for the DNR for 18 years.
