Governor Tim Walz says he is disappointed that the Minnesota Legislature wasn't able to pass a bonding bill during this session. He says his administration canvassed the state and worked for six months on infrastructure priorities:
"You can count on one hand the number of times I ever talk about the partisanship around getting things done. But my disappointment that the bonding bill apparently became victim to an unrelated demand simply isn't the way to get this done."
Senator Gazelka was also disappointed that a bonding bill didn't get done, saying that it was "the last train leaving the station for bonding."
This is the last train leaving the station for bonding. It’s disappointing that we couldn’t come together on this responsible, important bill. All four leaders and all four caucuses- including Senate DFL- & the Governor, have to work together for MN #mnleg https://t.co/RTs621Lf6L

May 18, 2020 House Republicans blocked the 2-billion dollar bill over the weekend with House Minority Leader Kurt Daudt saying the negotiations weren't substantive, in part because lawmakers expected to be back for a special session in June. And that is what's happening. Governor Walz will be calling a special session on June 12th to revisit the bonding bill.
