How to avoid ticket scams during the men's Final Four

Thousands of basketball fans are starting to arrive in Minneapolis ahead of the men's Final Four -- and they will be looking for tickets.

Bess Ellenson with Better Business Bureau says she's seen tickets listed for as much as $31,000. She says to use the official NCAA website and official NCAA ticket exchange online to be 100 percent guaranteed. But if you decide to look elsewhere:

"Go to VerifiedTicketSource.com and confirm that the person you're buying from is a member of the National Association of Ticket brokers," she said on the WCCO Morning News with Dave Lee Wednesday. "There's a guarantee that comes with that."

Ellenson says to use a credit card so the transaction is traceable, but the warnings don't stop there.

"A lot of these scammers are using web addresses that are very similar to legitimate sites," she said. "If you don't carefully look at the spelling, or if you clock on the website and don't carefully look through the website to make sure it does look legitimate, it could be a copycat site."

"People are sometimes in a hurry to get these tickets because they're a good deal or whatever and people end up losing out on money."
