Embattled state Department of Human Services inspector general Carolyn Ham is on leave, following a legislative auditor's report on fraud within the state's Child Care Assistance Program.

Republican lawmakers have been calling for Ham to resign.

Because of the Data Practices Act, the reasons for Ham being on leave are not public, with officials in the department insists she still holds the title of inspector general.

The report by Legislative Auditor James Nobles found fraud is a problem with the program but no proof that money from it found its way to terrorist organizations overseas.

The report also found a "serious rift" between Ham and the department's child care fraud investigators.

Ham has been the agency's inspector general since March 2017,
