The Twin Cities Coalition for Justice for Jamar announced plans Wednesday to disrupt this Sunday's big Pride parade in downtown Minneapolis.

Among their demands, the group wants access for activist voices at Pride events, and is calling on organizers to not allow any police officers in the parade or festival in Loring Park.

Twin Cities Pride Board Chair Darcie Baumann says they've offered to accomodate the group.

"We've offered for them to be part of the parade and booth space," Baumann said. "We haven't heard anything back."

Baumann also says for the first time in the event's history, there will be no Minneapolis police contingent in the parade.

"We do have enough support to be safe alongside the sides of the street, so we will not be having that first police vehicle this year," she said. "We'll be having our Stonewall commemorative banner."

Activists say police brutality hasn't gone away and they're protesting Pride because they say it needs to represent the vulnerable members of the community.
