The burned-out building that housed the Lola on the Lake restaurant on East Calhoun Parkway along Bde Maka Ska in Minneapolis was demolished Tuesday, nearly two weeks after a fire all but destroyed it. The same day, Minneapolis police announced that a man shown in surveillance video near the building at the time of the fire May 16 is a suspect in the case, but he has not been arrested or charged as authorities build a case.
The woman shown in the photos is not considered a suspect. She turned herself in last weekend. Police have ruled out lightning as a cause, but have not officially declared it arson.
Minneapolis Park Board officials say Lola's will provide a food truck for the busy summer season and there will be portable toilets.
The structure on the eastern shore dates back to the 1930s.
