Popular Lake Minnetonka restaurant Lord Fletcher's has announced that they will be closed for this winter this year due to COVID-19 restrictions.

The restaurant, which also serves as a popular party dock on Lake Minnetonka says that they have complied with all of the state's COVID-19 mandates, but with limited indoor seating they won't be able to stay open this winter. In a statement they released on Facebook, they said the decision wasn't easy.

"This decision wasn't made lightly. Lord Fletcher's has been an integral part of the west metro and Lake Minnetonka community for over 52 years. From celebrating family dinners, to hosting holiday parties, to relaxing by the water, countless memories have been made here at Fletcher's. COVID-19 has wrecked havoc on the restaurant industry locally and nationwide. Temporary closing is not our preference, but it's a measure we must take as we continue to push through the devestating economic effects of the pandemic."

Lord Fletcher's temporary closing comes as it was announced that more than 100,000 restaurants and bars have closed over the United States since the pandemic started in March. Locally, restaurants like Burger Jones, Butcher and the Boar, Bellecour, The Bachelor Farmer and dozens of others have closed because of the pandemic. Many of these businesses have blamed the mandates the state has put on the hospitality industry for the closures.

Lord Fletcher's final day of being open for 2020 will be October 12th.
