A Maple Grove woman is charged for allegedly driving a boat drunk, leading to serious injuries to two children.
According to the Hennepin County Attorney's Office, 34-year-old Jordan Seitz was charged with two counts of criminal vehicular operation-gross negligence and two counts of criminal vehicular operation-under the influence. She will make her next court appearance Wednesday.
Seitz was on Eagle Lake in Maple Grove at 8 p.m. Saturday, hosting a party for 10 of her daughter's friends. She drove too close to shore, per the criminal complaint, and as she turned back to the open water, one of the two rafts she was pulling with children on them collided with a fixed dock. A boy fractured his lumbar vertebra, suffered cuts and collection of fluid in his abdominal cavity and lost consciousness. A girl suffered a head injury. Both were taken to the hospital for treatment.
While talking to Seitz, deputies detected the odor of alcohol on her breath and her eyes were "watery and bloodshot," according to a release from the Attorney's Office. A breath test obtained a reading of .10. The legal limit is .08.
