Minnesota medical students start day care service for healthcare workers

A group of 13 Minnesota medical students has started a volunteer service for healthcare workers called MNCOVIDSITTERS. The service is run by volunteers and provides free childcare, pet care and errand running service to front line health care workers who are helping battle the COVID-19 pandemic.

COVIDSITTERS was started by Londyn Robinson, a University of Minnesota medical school student, and has 300 volunteers from colleges and universities all over the metro area. They are hoping to help more than 200 front line healthcare workers around the Twin Cities during the pandemic.

"The need has never been higher for Minnesota families. It's unprecedented, the lack of daycare and school closures has caused Minnesotans. Our group is trying to mitigate some of that burden" says Robinson. She says that within one day of starting the service, they had 120 Minnesota families in need that signed up.

Robinson says that they are in need of college-aged volunteers to help with local needs. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, you can find out more information here
