The good news is we're improving.  The bad news is, we're still ranked as the 6th worst state for drivers.

A new study by Quote Wizard ranks drivers in each state using metrics like accidents, speeding tickets, DUI's, citations and fatalities.  Maine came out on top (or bottom) as the worst state for drivers, followed by South Carolina, Nebraska, California, North Dakota then Minnesota.  The best states for drivers were Michigan, Mississippi and Oklahoma.

In 2017, Minnesota was ranked 2nd worst thanks to big increases in accidents, speeding and citations.  Our harsh winter weather was also cited as an issue for drivers and they were described by one transplant as "angry".  So much for Minnesota nice!

The study is used by auto insurance companies to determine risk likelihood.
