Charges won't be filed in the stabbing death of a man earlier this week on a Blue Line light rail train.
In a statement, the Hennepin County Attorney's Office says after reviewing the case, they would be unable to disprove a claim of self-defense.
45-year-old Anthony Watson was stabbed after he and and a 67-year old man were involved in a verbal altercation that turned physical early Thursday morning.
Watson later died from his injuries.
According to Metro Transit, this is the first incident in 15 years and 1.8 million rides where an on-board disturbance ended in a homicide.
Police were called to the 28th Avenue Station in Bloomington after the report of an assault.
Witnesses told investigators that a verbal confrontation brokeout between two men and then turned physical.
That's when one man was stabbed.
Watson was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center and later died.
