For the second time in five days, Minnesota is reporting a record high of 17 coronavirus deaths.

The state health department reported the rise Tuesday, which matches Minnesota's one-day high set last Friday, April 17.

Since last Friday, fatal coronavirus cases in the state have had double-digit jumps four times.

The death toll is 66 in that five-day span.

There are 97 new cases reported to bring the state's total up to 2,567.

It's the first time in a week that Minnesota did not report triple-digit new cases.

Of the 237 people still hospitalized with COVID-19, 117 are in intensive care.

Coronavirus cases are now reported in all but nine Minnesota counties, with Pennington County, where Thief River Falls is the largest community, confirming its first case on Tuesday.

There have been 47,697 coronavirus tests completed in Minnesota's public health laboratory, along with the Mayo Clinic and other private health-care centers.
