2 teens in custody on suspicion of murder in shooting death of Sibley student

Two teens are custody in the fatal shooting of the captain of the Henry Sibley football team.

Seventeen-year-old Da'Qwan Jones-Morris died Wednesday in the 100 block of Annapolis Street East of a gunshot wound.

Two teen boys, 15 and 16 years old, are at the Ramsey County Juvenile Detention Center on suspicion of murder. 

WCCO-TV reports they were playing with a gun that afternoon when it went off. Police have not revealed what led to the shooting.

Principal Ron Monson called Jones-Morris “funny, outgoing and well-liked by students and staff.” The school has counselors available. Jones-Morris also played on the basketball team.

There have been 29 reported homicides in St. Paul in 2019.
