
An Anoka County man told authorities that he thinking straight when he called the state capitol building and threatened violence against Gov. Walz for endorsing 5th District Congresswoman Ilhan Omar for re-election.
Court records show Ramsey County prosecutors filed charges that include threats of violence and reckless disregard risk against 51-year-old Shawn Simonson of Blaine, who made the phone call to the governor's public line at the capitol on Aug. 2.
Simson was charged through a warrant.

According to the complaint, Simonson apologized and told investigators that he needed to work on anger management issues, and that he felt he had no way of expressing himself since he was banned from Facebook.
Simonson could face up to five years in prison if convicted.
