
The first fire fatality of 2020 in St. Paul is a man who lived in a second-floor apartment with his three sons.
The fire happened 2:30 a.m. Saturday on the 400 block of Front Avenue, the man found inside the apartment.
The manager of the apartment building said the man's children with other family members the night of the fire.
The victim was pronounced dead at Regions Hospital.
His name is not released.
Investigators are trying to find out what started the fire, which is not believed to be suspicious.
At least one St. Paul fire official says the fire could be smoking-related.
