
A suspect is in custody following a shooting early Monday morning in South St. Paul that claimed the life of one man and wounded another.
South St. Paul police were called just after 4:00 a.m to the 600 block of 17th Avenue North, near Congress Street.
Initial searches for the suspect were conducted near the shooting scene with officers assisted by canine units.
The man was tracked down at a nearby hotel, and was arrested at about 7:00 a.m. in the hotel's lobby.
He remains in custody at the South St. Paul police department headquarters.
It's not known what led to the shooting.
Both victims were taken to a local hospital, where one died and the other remains in stable condition.
