Guerin, who's currently assistant general manager of the Pittsburgh Penguins and general manager of the Penguins AHL affiliate, played 18 seasons in the NHL and was a member of two Stanley Cup winning teams.

He will replace Paul Fenton, who was fired by Wild owner Craig Leipold after only one season as general manager.

A news conference is planned for Thursday.
