COVID-19: Five more deaths and 60 new cases in Minnestoa

There were 60 new cases of COVID-19 registered on Wednesday, with five more deaths reported, making for a total of 689 cases and 17 deaths in the state since the outbreak began. 

The new numbers from the Minnesota Department of Health also note that 122 people have been hospitalized with coronavirus, with 54 patients still in the hospital today and 27 of them in intensive care units. 

Of the 689 patients who have tested positive, 342 have recovered and no longer need to be isolated, MDH said.  

The majority of cases were contracted through community transmission, and the median age for most cases is 47. Elderly people are most likely to require hospitalization.

There have been 21,191 tests completed in the state so far. Of those, 8,280 were done by the MDH Public Health lab, and another 12,911 by other labs in the state, according to the latest MDH figures.
