A bright new painting now adorns the outside of the Dayton's Project on the skyway level.

"We love the vibrancy and energy that it represents," said Erin Fitzgerald, with Transwestern, the leasing agency in charge of the project.

The graffiti-inspired mural was created on site, by Juxtaposition Arts of Minneapolis. It's the first of many that will be painted, foreshadowing the building's opening in the Spring of 2020.

"We are making great progress," Fitzgerald said of the construction inside. "The project is on track. We've had a ton of leasing interest and we continue to capitalize on the love Minnesotans have for this building."

So far just one tenant has signed on: The Food Hall.

"Since they signed on, they have actually expanded their space even before moving in," she said.

More than a million square feet are still available for leasing, Fitzgerald said, with various tenants in the process of signing up.

Just last week, crews hung the iconic Dayton's sign on the outside of the building. On the inside, there are unique items that have been retained, particularly the bathrooms that were built in the 1940's remain in tact.

"With the beautiful green tiles and the decorative elements are retained, as well as the J.B Hudson space is another one that a lot of Minnesotans know and love and that will also retain its historic character," she said.
