The attorney for one of four former Minneapolis police officers charged in the death of George Floyd wants the trial moved out of Hennepin County.
Thomas Plunkett, who represents J. Alexander Kueng, filed the motion with Hennepin County judge Peter Cahill.
In his request, Plunkett argued that potentially prejudicial information released by prosecutors has stripped his client's right to a fair trial.
Plunkett is suggesting a move to Stearns County, where St. Cloud is the county seat, or another county that has the facilities to handle a trail of this magnitude.
A motion hearing before Judge Cahill is Sept. 11 in downtown Minneapolis.
